Whether you're attending a jewelry, polymer clay, or PMC workshop, our classes are specifically designed to teach you time-tested techniques for getting beautiful results. All supplies and materials are furnished in each two-hour and four-hour workshop.

Cardmaking @ the Silver Bay Public Library

Elegant Valentine’s Card
Wednesday, Feb. 1 @ 4pm-6pm

Join us at the Silver Bay Public Library to make an Elegant Valentine’s Day card.  We will incorporate die cuts to make flowers and pretty hearts, learn how to use the die cut machine and embossing folders to create this fabulous valentine for your special someone.  This workshop starts promptly at 4pm and is complimentary.  Register in advance with the Library so we know how many to plan for as all supplies are furnished.

Elegant Spring Cards
Date TBD 6pm-8pm

Join us at the Two Harbors Public Library to make an Elegant Spring card.  We will incorporate die cuts to make flowers and pretty gardens, learn how to use the die cut machine and embossing folders to create this fabulous card for your special someone.  This workshop starts promptly at 6pm and is complimentary.  Register in advance with the Library so we know how many to plan for as all supplies are furnished.  

Community Education @ Two Harbors High School

The Art of Glitter  $25.00
Wed. Feb. 8 @ 6pm-8pm

250 colors of ultra fine glitter, various papers, and three adhesives that stick to everything but Tupperware... sounds like the ingredients for a buffet of color and a splash of glitz!  The Art Institute is the leading glitter company in the US.  Barb Trombley’s artist grade product lines have remained a leader for more than 30 years in the crafting and fine arts industry ranging from papercraft, scrapbooking, indoor & outdoor decor, glass, costume design, food and make-up application.  This workshop will introduce you to various color skills including rainbow, euro-glitter, deliberate contamination techniques, as well as the versatility of the adhesive mediums.  Students should plan to leave the workshop with a variety of handmade cards and glitter on their face! All supplies provided in this workshop. Register by 2/2.

Polymer Clay Basics $25.00
Wed. Feb. 15 @ 6p-8p

Have you seen all the beautiful artwork that is done with polymer clay, but just don’t think you are artistic enough to be so creative?  Well, polymer clay is the ultimate art medium - it takes a little bit of something from all the other crafts and brings it to one central art stop!  Fabrics, fibers, yarns papers, acrylic paints, molds, gold leaf, beads, buttons....you name it, you can use it OR make it with polymer clay.  We will start this workshop with the basics of making skinner blends, learning to condition clay, create a cane and finish with a tin, glass candle or candy dish.  This workshop is the gateway to a whole new creative outlet.  All supplies provided in this workshop...but students are invited to bring additional PRIMO clay favorite colors to add to the supplies provided.  Register by 2/9.

Canvas Art Creations $25.00

Let your creative juices emerge into this abstract canvas art class.  Don’t worry that you don’t have artistic creativity...this workshop is fool-proof.  The majority of the creativity is spent laying the paint down on the canvas... then the fun begins by adding gesso, dimensional paints, stencils and ore for a one-of-a-kind canvas that expresses your individuality.  All supplies provided for this workshop.

Polymer Clay Beads $25.00
Wed. March 29 @ 6p-8p

Beads, beads, beads... the best part of polymer clay is bead making.  We will create a variety of beads to string, to hang and to wire wrap.  We will learn a variety of recipe blends for turquoise, agate, moonstone as well as various bale making techniques, layering and cane work.  All supplies furnished, but students are invited to bring PRIMO favorite colors to add to furnished supplies.

Encaustic Wax Art $25.00

Learn just how artistic you really are with encaustic wax art.  This art form, originally developed in Scotland, uses beeswax and a hot iron to create abstract to contemporary art pieces that can be used in home decor, scrapbooking and cardmaking.  We will experiment with different papers, color mediums and learn basic landscape, floral and modern art techniques.  All supplies furnished.

Iris folding is one of the many craft mediums that looks hard, but is soooo fun and easy you won’t be able to believe it.  The perfect technique to incorporate brass stencils, die cuts, rubberstamps and basic shapes ending in a colorful pinwheel so dynamic you will want to frame it!  The best part is how the use of recycled wrapping paper and scotch tape bring it all together for a surprise that will amaze you!  All supplies furnished.

Kiln-Fused & Dichroic Glass Pendants
Wed. May 10 @ 6p-8p

Learn how fun and easy it is to build custom glass pendants and jewelry pieces using layers of glass.  Students will make four pendants using black, white, clear, dichroic, and coated glass to create a rainbow of color and shapes.  All supplies are furnished.  Finished pieces will be picked up the following week.

Zentangle for Teenagers
Wed. March 22 @ 3:50pm-6pm @ THHS Art Room

Organized doodling sums it up.  Students will find “zen” in creating their art as they learn to tangle patterns and hash marks to build a modern print design.  This workshop will incorporate stamps, stencils, and diecuts with pens, graphic design markers, mixed media paper and a creative imagination to not only relieve stress and anxiety but to complete a one of a kind piece of art!  All supplies furnished.  Ages 12-18.

Let’s have some fun learning how to make shrink art jewelry.  Stamp it, color it and then put it in the oven and it comes out shrunk to half the size and ready to string on bracelets, necklaces, earrings or bookmarks.  Just in time for Mother’s Day students will be able to make a wonderful spring project!  All supplies furnished.  Ages 8-14

Card Mania Escape @ WKHS Library $25.00

Do you ever just want to close your eyes and blink yourself into a fun day away from it all?  Well this is your day!  Come onto the William Kelley High School Library on the scheduled Friday of each month to just sit and make cards...all sorts of cards, abstract cards, artistic cards, fun cards, sympathy cards will all be there in baskets just waiting for you to add your creativity and handmade touch.  Students can work at their own pace, pick the cards they want to make and just let the “zen” of card making take them away!  Each month there will be different baskets, new techniques and fun projects to choose from and all supplies are provided.  Just come sit down with a smile and let the art take you away.  Please register for each date attending.

Cards from the North Shore $25.00

The North Shore is considered “God’s Country” to many artists and tourists that visit and McRice Papers from Lutsen have captured this beauty in their collage papers.  This workshop takes McRice papers and creates a stack of cards with a variety of shapes and folds that can be used for any occasion.  We will incorporate various card templates as well as just embellishment tricks that will make your cards one-of-a-kind Lake Superior Originals.  All supplies furnished.

High School Senior Scrapbooking $
Fri. March 3 @ 10am-2pm

SENIORS!  Graduation is just around the corner and you will be wishing you had your scrapbook done for your senior banquets and graduation parties.  You never know what naked baby pictures will show up if you make your Mom do it at the last minute so this is your chance to get it done in plenty of time!  All supplies including a scrapbook will be provided, various school logo and borders to embellish and instructions on how to create a keepsake album that is unique to YOU!

Basic Wire Wrapping $25.00
Mon. May 8 @ 6pm-8pm

Learn the basics of wire-wrapping pendants and cabochons using a variety of square and ½ round wire and tools.  Students are invited to bring a pendant or cabochon for wrapping.  Students who have taken the kiln-fused & dichroic glass class are encouraged to take this class wrapping class as a follow-up.  This three (3) hour workshop will include all supplies.

 Scrapbook Escape @ Clair Nelson Community Center $25.00

Get away for the day and leave your worries behind as you scrap the day away on the first Tuesday of each month at the Clair Nelson all-day Crop!  We start off the day creating a mini-album and then a 2-page layout design after lunch.  The rest of the day is all yours to catch up on your scrapbook pages, create borders and embellishments with the Cricut and learn about various tools.  There is plenty of fun, a paper pile to pick through as well as lots of tricks, ideas and samples to stimulate your creative juices.  In addition to an entire day of cropping you will receive a mini-album kit and a 2-page layout kit as part of your fee.  Register for each date attending for a well deserved escape!

Sketchbook Design for Youth

Kids will each create a custom sketchbook to be used for their personal journal, drawing or sketching diary.  We will learn how to cover, embellish and bind each book as well as embellish some of the pages.  All supplies furnished for ages 6-16.
