Welcome to the 6th Annual Lake Superior Stamp & Scrap Weekend Get-a-Way. Join Stamping to See You and a variety of other artisans on October 17-19, 2008, at the Beaver Bay Community Center ( new 2008 location at Hwy 61 and mile marker 51 above Lemon Wolf Restaurant).
We would like to invite you to spend some time, the day, or the entire weekend with us and enjoy the various scrapbook, papercraft, and stamping activities that are being held throughout the weekend. The Get-a-Way is designed to teach, demonstrate and educate stampers, scrapbookers, papercraft, and other artisans in the many facets of rubberstamp and scrapbook art. We hope you enjoy the relaxed and spacious atmosphere we have created, that your artistic cravings are satisfied, that you learn how to use various products, new techniques, meet other artisans with creative minds and enjoy the unique local atmosphere that this town offers.
The concept of the weekend is to combine learning, fun, socialization and open space for stampers and scrapbookers who want a weekend away to work on projects, to learn new techniques, and meet other artists with creative minds!

FAQ's.
1. Do I have to register for the whole day? No. You can register for one class, the crop, or the Q/A session individually.
2. Do I have to stay at the hotel? No. The hotel fees are split out separately specifically for people who do not wish to stay at the hotel.
3. Can I mix and match classes on Friday and Saturday? Yes, if you would like to do the $100 package, you can split up your classes and mix for both Friday and Saturday classes.
4. What do I need? You should bring your basic supplies, including your heat gun, black embossing powder, embossing pad, scissors, exacto knife, cutting matte, personal paper cutter, etc.
5. Who can shop? The retail space is opened to the public on Friday from 10am-5p, Saturday from 10am-5p, and Sunday from 9am-11am.
6. What is the fee to come shop at the retreat? There is not a fee to come shopping - admission and parking are free to the public.
7. Are children allowed? Children are allowed in the retail shopping area; however, it is the parent's responsibility to keep them under control. Children are allowed to participate in classes for the same fee as adults. Keep in mind that these classes are all designed for mature participation.
8. What is the deadline for registration? Registration is usually cut off 1 week prior to the event; however, walk-ins are invited based upon availability.
9. How big are the classes? Most rooms are set for no more then 12 persons. The idea behind these retreats is to offer lots of attention and one-on-one assistance. Big classes take the fun out of it.
10. How can we register? You can fill out and mail in the form below or call in your registration. Do not list your credit card and email this via this format. This is not a secured line.
Program Registration & Fees.
This program has been developed to be flexible and cost effective with a variety of price structures. Because some people may not require a hotel room, hotel fees have been separated out. Boat tour fees are also excluded from prices listed.
Open House - Shop til You Drop. This event will offer retail shopping Friday and Saturday from 10a-5p and Sunday from 10a-2p. Visit our full service traveling stamp, scrap and papercraft store and various participating exhibitors representing products from more than 150 rubberstamp, scrapbook, stencil, paper and art supply companies and manufacturers. There is NO FEE or Door Admission to come shop or just take a look around.
Just the Classes. Just want to take a specific class or two during the day? We have classes available for $25.00/person per class.
All Day Crop Corral. Want to just get-a-way for a day or the weekend to catch up on your cropping? Well this is for you. This space is set aside for participants to socialize in an open format with others, work on scrapbook pages, or card designs. Use the paper cutters, die-cut machines, quick cuts, scizzix, rubber stamps, art supplies, crimpers and more. Come crop or stamp in your corral at your leisure.

* All Day Crop Camp (Friday and/or Saturday from 10a-midnite includes all day crop, breakfast, meal, and a guest bag) $25/day
Make-N-Take Camp. Created for the night owl that can't get away during the day. This space is set aside for participants to socialize in an open format with others, stamp or work on artwork, scrapbook pages, or card designs. Various mini-demos and make-n-take projects will be offered. Use the cutters, die-cut machines, scizzix, quick cuts, alphabets, rubber stamps, art supplies, crimpers and more. Complete projects or just use the tools and products available. Can't figure out how to make it work or don't know what tod do with it....we will give you ideas and techniques. Just bring paper & ideas. Make-n-Take Camp Friday and/or Saturday (8p-midnite) $15/person
One Day Package. One day pass for either Friday or Saturday, up to three (3) classes of your choice, breakfast, dinner, Make-n-Take Camp that night, and guest bag filled with treats. $100/ person.
Weekend Package. Receive all seven (7) classes offered Friday, Saturday or Sunday, breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings, light meal on Friday and Saturday afternoons, make-n-take camps Friday & Saturday night, Sunday class, and guest bag filled with treats. $200/person
**NEW** Friday Nite Scrap & Stamp Flea Market. Opened to the public Friday night from 8p-10p for a Stamp & Scrap Flea Market. Bring your gently used stamps, old magazines, books, left over scrap book materials to sell, barter, trade, or swap. Clean out your storage space and bring home some new toys to play with for pennies. Come meet some of the artisans, have a snack or a cup of coffee and see what this is all about. Free Admission.
Artist Trading Cards & Card Contest Wall of Fame. - ATCs are the size of a business card (approx. 2"x3-1/2") and no larger than a baseball card (approx. 2-1/2"x 3-1/2"),
The front of the card is stamped, personalized, embellished, & decorated just as you would a pin. On the back side you list your name, address and e-mail location.
Bring your trading card to the facility entrance to be displayed on the wall of fame trading card board and be eligible for prizes. Prizes for best dressed, most creative, and humorous card will be awarded on Saturday night at the Creativity Lab. You can create your art before you come or at the get-a-way. ATC's must be posted by Saturday night. You must be present to win.
Pick-a-Posey Prize Garden. - This year's "game of chance" is our Pick-a-Posey Prize Garden. $1.00 gets you a chance to pick a posey pen from the prize garden. If your pen has a pink tip, then you get to make a trip to the treasure prize box. If your pen tip is white, you get to keep the pen as a souvenior. Everyone is a winner. Proceeds will benefit Susan Komen Breast Cancer programs.
Artisan Walk-of-Fame - Ever wonder what happened to the cards that were submitted for StampMania card contests? Well, now you will see. We have collected 7-years of cards from all over the U.S. and displayed them for your appreciation. Photos and sketches may be taken for your stamping and scrapbooking pleasure.
**NEW**RAFFLE. For every $10 spent at the get-a-way you will receive a ticket good for a chance to win the raffle basket. The drawing will be held on Sunday at Noon. You do not need to be present to win, but you will need to make arrangements to pick up your prize or pay the shipping fees.

Hotel Registration.
Individuals are responsible for making overnight accomodations. STSY has blocked special rates at the above listed hotels; however, accomodations are not part of the retreat package. Both Cove Point Resort and Moose Country Inn will offer hotel space for those who need a room. We have blocked rooms at a special rate for this event. Hotel registration can be added to your retreat fees - please specify which hotel you would like to stay at:
Luxerious Cove Point sits right on the Shore of Lake Superior at the old Lorentson homestead. All rooms face the lake and the accomodations are breathtaking and includes a scandinavian continental breakfast. For reservations call 218.226-3221.

Moose Country Inn is a small economy hotel just across the street from the Beaver Bay Recreation Center. Clean rooms, warm water and a place to lay your head before the next days big events. For reservations call 218.226-0090.

Other Accomodations There are several other hotel/motel accomodations in the area including: AmeriSuites Hotel in Silver Bay, the Silver Bay Motel, KOA campground and the Beaver Bay Motel.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
As part of the weekend package, each person may register for up to three (3) classes of your choice for each day of participation. The additional class may be taken for an additional $25 fee. Work-shops include a min. of $10 in product, supplies, and instructions to create projects.
Supplies. Students are asked to bring basic supplies which may include: a heat gun, black embossing powder & pad, scissors, pencil, x-acto knife, ruler, watercolor pens (Marvy, Tombo), bone folder, 2-face tape, adhesive (glue stick), cutting matte, 1/4" hand punch, stamp cleaner, personal stamps (opt.)
2008 CLASSES:
Fri. 10a-Noon. The Art of Glitter: We will create a variety of cards celebrating the Christmas and winter holiday season using the Art Institute Glitter products. Rainbow, euro-glitter, shading, making ice, snow and embellishing with glitter to create various cards.
Fri. 1p-3p. Winter Wonderland. This workshop incorporates a variety of techniques that make colorful and stunning winter and holiday cards. We will make bright backgrounds, use acetate, use beautiful papers and embellishments to create a stunning assortment of cards.
Fri. 5p-7p. Altered Art Acrylic Calendar/Recipe Holder/Flip Photo Frame. We will take an acrylic easal by Clear Scrap and alter it with embellishments to hold calendar pages, favorite recipes or photos. Stickers, rub-ons, specialty papers, ribbons, fibers and more. We will also incorporate the new rubberstamp designs by Yvonne Albright!
Sat. 10a-Noon. Wonderful Fall Watercolors. Fall leaves, landsapes flowers, pumpkins and more make these watercolor techniques elegant and fun to do. We will incorporate Twinkling H20's as our watercolor medium. We will learn how to use basic watercolor techniques, faux acrylic techniques and direct to paper leaves to make a variety of cards bright and brilliant.
Sat. 1p-3p. Games People Play. 2008 Class Favorite. We begin with a basic game board, you know Monopoly or Scrabble board. Then we distress it, color it, decoupague it, ad skeleton leaves, fibers, rub ons, stickers, styling stones, bottle caps and more to create this one of a kind birthday celebration!
Sat. 5p-7p. Altered Clip Board Recipe Holder/Photo Frame. A basic clipboard and some fabulous papers make this clip board go from basic brown to bovacious and bold. A great gift or home decor that tells a story. Add a recipe card, photo or use as a message board.
Sun. 10a-2p. Ten Cards for Fall. This new 2008 workshop will incorporate a variety of techniques new and old with embellishments, cardstock, ribbons, fibers, embellishments and more. Reds, oranges, golds and greens celebrate the onset of fall and the changing colors.
